| The importance of the colon to your health... |
All the organs of the body held a meeting to decide who should be in charge…
“Obviously I should be in charge”, said the Brain in a slightly superior sort of way, “Because I run all the body’s systems, so without me nothing would happen.” |
| There were reluctant murmurs of agreement from all around the room….
“Typical bossy boots” muttered a kidney in the back row…
“I think I should be in charge” said the blood defiantly, “because I circulate oxygen all over so without me you’d all waste away”… |
| This spirited challenge was greeted with enthusiastic cheers…
“You tell him!” shouted the Gall Bladder and then sat down quickly under the Brain’s stern glare…
“I should definitely be in charge” said the stomach boldly, “because I process food and give you all energy”… |
| All around the room heads nodded in agreement…
“Got a good point there” murmured the Lungs hesitantly, still wondering whether or not to stand up and say something about the importance of oxygen…
“But I should be in charge” said the legs “because I carry you all wherever you need to go”… |
| This was greeted by cries of “’Ere ‘Ere…” from the two ears sitting in the middle of the room…
“No! You must vote me in charge” said the eyes, “because I allow you to see exactly where you want to go!”
Cheers and loud applause greeted this declaration, which rather silenced the legs…. |
| “Ahem,” coughed the colon politely, “If I may just say that I am sorry to disagree but I rather think it must be me who is in charge, because I am responsible for waste removal”
This was met by silence…
And then someone giggled…
And then the brain chortled muttering, “That colon’s always talking a load of old shit…”
At which point the whole conference erupted into hoots of laughter with many of the other organs making rather insulting comments about the poor colon…So in a huff, the colon walked out of the conference and decided to go on strike… |
| Within a few days, the Brain had a terrible headache; the stomach was bloated, the kidneys and the liver became distressed and overworked and the lungs were smelling very bad. The legs became weak and wobbly and developed ulcers. The eyes got infected and their vision became blurred. Meanwhile, the blood became toxic causing the skin to come out in rashes and the rest of the organs to complain all day long… |
| So….all the organs of the body held an emergency meeting and decided to elect the Colon as boss….and the moral of story???
Always treat your colon with respect…no matter how quietly it may speak!!! |
